Santa Cruz is Burning

Walking home from Brimmy's house tonight, the sun looked pretty cool, so I took a picture.

Free Recording

Sorry to knock you off the top fruity dude.

I'm not sure if this will make it to anybody that cares, but I would like to make a public announcement. Next week starting Tuesday, Maegan and the monkeys will be going to Washington for a week. I realized that I am going to have quite a bit of time on my hands. With this time, naturally, I plan to park myself in front of my computer writing/recording some new songs. The only problem is, I'm pretty much fresh out of good ideas. so if any of you have a song that you have written that you would like to record, let me know, and I will be happy to record it for you. Obviously I'm not going to be charging anything, I just think it's fun once in a while to record a song that sounds different than something I would record.

For those interested, I have the following instruments that you can use:

1 Acoustic Guitar
1 Electric Guitar
1 Piano/Keyboard (Full 88 weighted keys)
1 Drum set (Which can't really be used because they're too bloody loud for the neighbors)
1 Violin
1 Viola
2 Cellos

Here are a few song samples that I have recorded myself so you can get some sort of an idea of what sort of quality to expect (actually, you can expect a bit better, as I recently got some new equipment and my noise levels are quite a bit lower now).

Demo mix collage thingy

I do have a few rules and restrictions on what I will record.

1) I would rather you already have the song written before you come to record. It will be pretty rough trying to get the song finished in the 1 week time slot if you are writing the song as you are recording it.

2) You should know how to play the song. I know this seems pretty obvious, but if you can't play a chord on the guitar, it makes it pretty hard to record. You do not have to be able to play through the whole song without screwing up by any means, but the easier it is for you to play, the easier it is to record. I am all for playing any instruments you can't play (bass, guitar, drums, piano yada yada) and helping out with any of the arrangement, but only if you want me to.

3) No lame songs. By this, I mean no obviously stupid songs. I'm not sure what else I can say.

I guess those are the only rules. I figure the only people that will respond to this are people in the Menlo Park ward, so it's a good chance for me to get to know some more people in the ward. So let me know if you are interested, and I'll give you more info on how it works.

Happy musicating.
